MADISON, Wis. (WEAU) – The Wisconsin Department of Emergency Management says straight line winds are to blame for storm damage in the Chippewa Valley.
The department says the winds came through the area around 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
On Friday morning, storm-related debris kept a few streets closed in Eau Claire, including the bridge on Short Street that crosses the Chippewa River. Eau Claire’s wastewater treatment plant continued to run on generator power. Emergency management says the lift stations were operational on Friday morning.
There are reports of damage to grave stones and uprooted trees at Lakeview Cemetery.
A roof was blown off of a house three miles southwest of Spencer. In Dunn County, the department reports a few trees down and some electrical outages, and in Trempealeau County, there are reports of trees down in Arcadia.
