This winter storm is just in time for the start of basketball playoffs in Western Wisconsin on Tuesday
"It definitely would be a nightmare if we had to reschedule this one," says Archie Sherbinow. He is the athletic director and also the coach for the Mcdonell's boy’s basketball team. The court is all ready for tonight's game but they are hoping Mother Nature will hold off getting this playoff game in.
"We want to make sure that both teams and fans can get here safely and home safely after the game." Sherbinow says they made the decision to move the game start time up to 6pm after talking with the Indepedence team who’s the opposing team for tonight's match up.
He says they will continue to monitor weather conditions to see if the game may be cancelled. Unfortunately, it would create a scheduling mess with a girls game scheduled on Thursday and other playoff games this Friday and Saturday.
"If the weather is bad on Wednesday then too we might have to look at another site or moving our girls game actually earlier in the day and playing two games here on Thursday night. It really would be tough for us to get 3 or 4 games in 3 days if we had to cancel today and tomorrow."
The snow got going this afternoon but this evening we'll see a variety of precipitation types, so regardless road conditions will be difficult and the state patrol says they will be fanned out and ready to respond to any incident."
"Wear your seat belt. It's the same message we always preach. You know watch your speed. Give yourself more time to stop," explains State Patrol Sgt. Steve Tape.
