La Crosse, Wis (WEAU)- This time of year is a good time to make sure everything’s in order around the house for the winter season ahead. It’s a reminder winter is not all that far away and it's a good time to make sure everything’s in order around the house for the brutal winter ahead.

Jeanie Blaschke was one of the many to be fall cleaning already. She hosted a yard sale out side her duplex hoping to get rid of a few spring items she found in her garage.

“Every spring and every fall I try to purge. Everything I wont sell I’ll give to Good Steward here in La Crosse,” said Blaschke.

She’s cleaning her garage to make room for machinery that needs to be stored before the snow comes.

“My husband says he needs more space to get our car in so that’s what I’m trying to do is give us more space,” said Blaschke.

Hardware stores are already getting snow blowers brought in to be tuned up and made sure that they are ready for the first big storm.

At Ace Hardware in La Crosse Store Manager Dave O’Mara says they are working on customer snow blowers that were stored at Ace over the spring and summer.

“We do a service in spring or fall and make sure its ready to go. So when we get it to the customer they are already set,” said O’Mara.

O’Mara says people are already coming in to grab items needed for winterizing.

“This change in weather with the cool nights is getting people thinking about it (winterizing). I have people trickling in and looking at those special items,” said O’Mara.

But for Blaschke, she’s hoping the weather stays just as it is.

"If its 65-70 that would be great. If it gets cold then it’s just cozy to sit inside,” said Blaschke.
