After a couple days break temperature will climb back above normal

As far as meteorological summer goes, being the months from June through August, we are a little over halfway through. However, we've had enough heat to fit into a couple of summers!

We had a nice break though the past couple days. Highs on Wednesday were in the 70s...actually below the normal high of 83 degrees. That ended a streak of 21 days spent above normal in Eau Claire. Of those days 14 were spent in the 90s. So far in 2012, we've had an incredible 19 days spent at or above 90 degrees. In a typical year on average....we see 12 days. Still have plenty of summer left, and we have a few 90s in the forecast for the weekend and on into next week. More than likely this will be the warmest year in Eau Claire.

Meanwhile, it gets hotter down in La Crosse where you folks have seen a staggering 24 days at or above 90 degrees. Three of those days this month were temperatures at or above 100 degrees. Eau Claire hasn't hit 100 degree so far this year (we've come super close a couple times though). A typical summer averages only 16 days at or above 90 degrees.

Now after our break from the heat look for temperatures to climb right back up and remain above normal the next several days. We'll likley through a few more 90s in the mix to add to our total for this crazy 2012. In the long term it looks like we'll be remaining above normal over the next three months according to the Climate Predicition Center as seen by the image below. Stay cool!
