Good weather in Wisconsin for viewing part of the lunar eclipse

We may not be able to see all the lunar eclipse have to offer early on Saturday morning, but what we do see at least we'll see it. With high pressure in control skies will remain clear tonight into Saturday morning.

Around Western Wisconsin the moon will rise around 4:46PM and set at around 7:41AM. The beginning of the eclipse will begin at 6:45AM. Unfortunately, the best times to view the eclipse when it becomes a total eclipse will be between 8:06AM to 8:57AM CST. This is known as totality and if you're watching about 10-15 minutes before totality you will see the darkening of the moon as Earth's shadow goes by.

So likely we will only see a partial eclipse here in Western Wisconsin before the moon sets. The sight in the Western Unites States and over the Pacific will be phenomenal. A lunar eclipse occurs when the earth is positioned just right to cast a shadow on the moon.

The eclipse will also cause the moon to change to a shade of red, brown, or orange. It will really depend on where in the eclipse the moon is at and the dust that is up in the atmosphere. Here's an example of eclipse photos put together of what it will look like from an eclipse back in 2000.

Some people out west may be lucky enough to see the "impossible" eclipse when with darkened, eclipsed moon and the rising sun in the sky simultaneously.

Even though we'll probably only see a partial eclipse here in Western Wisconsin, it may still be worth checking out because as far as the weather is concerned, it will be cooperating. The next total eclipse wont happen again until April 15, 2014.
