Long-lived Tropical Storm Nadine finally dead

Tropical Storm Nadine lived a long and fulfilling life. Nadine was a hurricane at one time with peak winds of 90 mph. You can see the satellite image of her peak intensity below. That was taken on the morning of September 30th. Nadine had been to the Azores twice. She's also died twice. She became extra-tropical for a day on September 22 and then came back to life. It's that can do attitude I'm sure.

Nadine finally became extratropical due to the cold waters of the northeast Atlantic and strong wind shear. Nadine was a named storm for 21.75 days. That's pretty impressive when you consider she was the 5th longest lived tropical cyclone in the Atlantic since 1851. The longest lived tropical cyclone was the San Ciriaco Hurricane of 1899, which lived for a staggering 28 days. For some perspective, a tropical cyclone usually only lives for about 6 days. So for Nadine, this is kind of a big deal.

Also, in Nadine's lifetime she traveled quite the distance around the Atlantic. Nadine's 21.25 days as a tropical or subtropical storm make it tied with Hurricane Ginger of 1971 as the Atlantic's second longest tropical storm on record. So long Nadine...
