The showers and storms busted up our pretty weather party. Tuesday was gorgeous, until the clouds and showers rolled into town during the afternoon. Highs topped out near 80, however once it started to rain, temperatures plummeted!
La Crosse:
4:53pm - 79 degrees
6:53pm - 61 degrees
Winona:
5:15pm - 73 degrees
6:15pm - 59 degrees
Sparta:
5:15pm - 77 degrees
6:15pm - 64 degrees
At the station in Eau Claire, temps dropped 10 degrees within an hour. This shows you just how much of an effect the rain has on temperatures this time of year. Some of those thunderstorms had teeth! We had reports of nickel-size hail around the Coulee region. One storm cell spawned a tornado warning in Winona county. Radar indicated some rotation, and a couple of spotters reported seeing a tornado, however there were no reports of a funnel cloud or touch-down. Sometimes in the distance, a rain shaft can look like a tornado, but they are two completely different things. Both, a headache.
No more rain or storms in the forecast for the rest of the week. No more summer-like heat either. The clouds will be in and out, but temperatures will stay relatively seasonable in the 60's.
