For the first time since February 16 we will likely be waking up to sub-zero temperatures on Tuesday morning. The cold morning will follow what turned out to be a very unseasonably cold Monday, when highs in the Chippewa Valley only made it into the middle teens, despite a day full of sunshine.
This recent cold outbreak is good news for those of you enjoying our latest snowfall. Overnight lows below zero and daytime highs in the teens and 20s will do a lot to keep that snow sticking around.
But all good things must come to an end, and they will. By the end of the week, it appears that we'll be seeing a return of some much more seasonable temperatures, with highs forecast to top out in the upper-30s and low-40s by Thursday. Throw in a chance of rain on Friday and you've got a pretty good recipe for snow melt!
You have to admit, though, that we've had a good run of snow-filled days lately in western Wisconsin. For everyone who was starting to think we might not get a good, old-fashioned snowstorm this year, it was surely a great surprise to get two in less than a week's time. Enjoy it while it lasts - spring will be here before you know it!
