Areas of the Chippewa River Trail closed due to increase water levels
Heavy rain leading to increased water levels on the Chippewa River
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - Heavy rain on Monday has caused portions of the Chippewa River Trail to be closed in Eau Claire as the the water levels rise.
The area behind the UW-Eau Claire Fine Arts Building and the Hobbs Ice Arena boat landing are closed effective immediately.
The Chippewa River is expected to crest at a projected 764-feet, which is below the flood level of 774-feet. It was measured at 761-feet at 8 a.m. on Monday morning.
The City of Eau Claire is monitoring the levels to see if there will be any other trail closings.
