EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - At 6:30 p.m. on July 7th, Sawyer County Deputies responded to a 911 call about a boat fire at the Black Lake Campground in the Town of Draper.

When emergency responders arrived they saw a boat on the shoreline that contained visible flames. The operator of the boat, David Wiacek told responders that he and two others tried to start the boat while pushing it from shore. After attempting to start the motor multiple times, he heard what sounded like a small explosion.

A fire started and injured a juvenile passenger, who received burns on his right forearm and leg. The rest escaped without injury.

The juvenile was taken to the hospital and the extent of his injuries are not known at the time.
