ALTOONA, Wis. (WEAU) - A series of farmer support groups is being launched by the Wisconsin Farm Center. The virtual programs will start in February at 8 p.m. the fourth Monday of the month, 1 p.m. the first Tuesday of every month and, for farm couples, the third Thursday of every month. Jayne Krull of the state Department of Agriculture Trade and Consumer Protection – which operates the Farm Center – said the groups are designed for farmers to share ideas, provide encouragement and support each other through challenging times. There are no charges, but pre-registration is required. Information and registration are available at the Wisconsin Farm Center’s Web site, FarmCenter.wi.gov.

U.S. beef exports posted one of the best months on record in November, according to data released by USDA and compiled by the U.S. Meat Export Federation. November was also a strong month for pork exports, which already surpassed the full-year volume and value records set in 2019. November beef exports totaled 115,337 metric tons, up 6percent from a year ago and the largest since July 2019. The beef export value climbed 8 percent year-over-year to $707.5 million. November exports to China and Guatemala set new monthly records, while shipments to Mexico were the largest since 2016. Exports to Taiwan remained strong and are well-positioned to set in a new annual record in 2020. Through November, beef exports were 6 percent lower year-over-year in volume and down 7 percent in value.

The national November pork export volume was steady year-over-year at 258,801 metric tons, with value down 2 percent to $697.5 million. Although China/Hong Kong remained the largest destination for U.S. pork in November, momentum continued to build in other markets including Japan, Mexico and Central America.
