36-year-old man found dead in Rusk County, father in custody
Rusk County officials are offering few details into a fatal shooting, where a father is accused of killing his son.
RUSK COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) - One person is in custody after Rusk County officials received a 9-1-1 call of an altercation and arrived on scene to see a 36-year-old Sheldon man dead on April 9.
Chief Deputy Phil Grassmann says the call was made around 6:29 p.m. with the location of N799 County Highway G.
The deceased man has been identified as Jesse O’Brien. Officials found him deceased at the scene with a single shot gun wound.
“Upon arriving at the scene, we found a male deceased,” says Rusk County Sheriff Jeffery Wallace.
59-year old Scott O’Brien, Jesse’s father, is in custody for homicide by intoxicated use of a firearm. Deputies say the caller claimed a fight was happening at the home.
“The suspect was on scene upon our arrival and was taken into custody without incident,” says Wallace.
Wallace would not say what led to the shooting. He says right now there is little information he can give out, as the investigation is ongoing.
“We’re assisted by State Patrol and the Wisconsin Crime Lab so it’ll take a little bit of time to get everything together,” says Wallace.
Neighbors WEAU spoke with say the father and son lived together at the home on County Highway G.
At this time we do not know who made the 9-1-1 call or if anyone else was in the home at the time.
Scott O’Brien has not been charged yet.
