CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) -The SandBar and Grill hosted the first Little Lake Wissota Mini Triathlon on Saturday.

The race included a 5K run/walk, 12 mile bike ride and a one mile trip around Little Lake.

Profits from the race went to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation which advocates for those living with Type 1 diabetes.

Organizer Colton Nelson said he came up with the event to help give back to the community.

“I needed a way to fundraise some money this year because I was planning on doing another one, but due to COVID and that they’re not doing their big 100 mile ride, so the owner here at SandBar decided: “Well let’s have our own,” Nelson said.

Nelson said 39 people in total participated. He hopes they can make the event an annual tradition.
