Mayo Clinic Health System notices slight uptick in unvaccinated ICU COVID patients
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - Mayo Clinic Health System doctors have seen a slight uptick of unvaccinated patients needing to be hospitalized.
Medical Director of Critical Care Dr. Adel Zurob noticed the uptick in COVID-19 patients in the ICU. He says this is good news that vaccines are proving to be effective.
Zurob and Mayo Clinic say they are concerned that cases are ticking up again in those who are currently unvaccinated.
As of Thursday, 5,193,643 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Wisconsin.
The state saw 165 new COVID-19 cases Thursday but noted that it was the lowest ever recorded positive seven day average at 1.6%.
