ALTOONA, Wis. (WEAU) - The City of Altoona is implementing a partial watering ban that will remain in effect until the city lifts the ban.
The city says the ban includes watering lawns and other vegetation, and washing vehicles at home. This applies to all City of Altoona water customer including residents, businesses, schools and parks.
Watering lawns will only be allowed on alternating sides of the street depending on the date. If a resident has an even-numbered address, they may water on even-numbered days. Same process goes for odd-numbered addresses.
The city says the watering ban has been put in place due to continued population growth and use of irrigation systems during the recent high temperatures. Failure to comply with the ban could result in a fine up to $500 for the first offense.
