Pierce County woman hurt in car vs deer crash

PIERCE COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) - An Ellsworth woman is hurt after the vehicle she was driving hit a deer. Five children were also in the vehicle at the time.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office says it happened just after 7:30 a.m. Thursday, June 10 on STH 72, near 290th Street near Elmwood.

Deputies say 26-year-old Linda Bowen was driving east on STH 72 when a deer ran into the road and hit the driver’s side door. The deer partially went through the driver’s side window, hitting Bowen in the head and neck area.

She was able to safely pull onto the shoulder of the road. The five children in the vehicle were not hurt. Bowen was taken to the hospital with undetermined injuries.
