Crews respond to fire in Chippewa County

TOWN OF WHEATON, Wis. (WEAU)- A fire update was given from Chief Adam Blaskowski.

The call came in at 11:06 a.m. Mutual aid was called. Responding crews were Tilden, Elk Mound, and Howard.

There were about 20 trucks and nearly 40 firefighters. The fire took an hour to get it under control, they are still on scene.

Three people were at home when it started, no injuries reported.

Crews believe the initial cause was a heater in the garage.

The fire is considered accidental, and it is estimated that home is a total loss.

No firefighters were injured.

TOWN OF WHEATON, Wis. (WEAU) - Crews from several departments, including Town of Wheaton, have been called to a fire in Chippewa County.

The call came in around 11:15 a.m. and the fire can be seen from Custer Farms.

Chippewa County dispatchers ask that people avoid County Road T at 60th Avenue while firefighters are on scene.

According to the Wheaton fire chief, mutual aid came from from Elk mound, CFD, and Tilden. Two occupants were inside and got out safely. No injuries have been reported.

The home was fully engulfed upon arrival of crews, the garage collapsed, and the home is deemed a complete loss.
