Teen taken into custody after loaded gun found at La Crosse school

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WEAU) - A teen is in custody after a loaded gun was found at a school in La Crosse.
According to La Crosse police, on the morning of Oct. 25, 2024, at around 8:40 a.m., Central High School Staff found a loaded firearm in a jacket left behind by a student in a classroom.
La Crosse police say authorities responded, the firearm was secured, and the 16-year-old student was contacted and taken into custody.
Charges are being recommended for the student including possession of a firearm in a school, possession of dangerous weapon by person under 18yrs, carry concealed weapon, and possession of THC with an enhancer for possessing in a school.
The incident is under investigation.
