EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - Right here in Western Wisconsin, a Democratic candidate for the House of Representatives is encouraging people to get out and vote early Wednesday.

Rebecca Cooke held what she called a “voting block party” Wednesday on the UW-Eau Claire campus at noon.

Cooke handed out shirts, pizza and talked with students before hopping on a bus to City Hall for early voting.

She spoke with our WEAU reporter about the last week scramble before the election.

“The last week is a dead sprint. I mean, we’re in four different communities every day. We’re here in my hometown of Eau Claire today. Again, really working to try to engage the younger voting population to get out and exercise their voice. And so, every day we’re out just talking to voters, meeting people where they’re at,” said Rebecca Cooke.

Cooke said she rented out buses for her event because transportation is often a barrier for younger voters.
