Colfax man charged with possessing child pornography

DUNN COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) - A Colfax, Wis. man is charged with possessing child pornography.

A criminal complaint shows 33-year-old Saul Carrizal Perez is charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography.

In March 2025, authorities began investigating a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children originating from WhatsApp regarding an Internet Crimes Against Children case.

The IP address came from a location in Colfax, Wis.

The address led authorities to the home of Saul Carrizal Perez, where authorities conducted a search.

According to the criminal complaint, many images and videos of suspected child pornography material was found on Perez’s phone. Perez was asked how many phones he had, and he said he had two phones and would save the files on both phones.

Perez said he was part of a WhatsApp chat group. He said it wasn’t all child pornography and that it started off as adult pornography and transitioned to more child pornography.

Perez said that he has never had physical contact with any children.

Perez was taken into custody.

Online court records show a $10,000 cash bond is set for Perez and an initial court appearance is scheduled for July 10, 2025.
