Judge Maria Lazar, candidate for Wisconsin Supreme Court, makes stop in Eau Claire County
EAU CLAIRE COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) - Election Day is just four days away, and Judge Maria Lazar, candidate for Wisconsin Supreme Court, is hitting the road with a final statewide tour.
Pushing a message of what she calls common-sense, judicial impartiality, and independence, Lazar says she’s committed to a fair and independent court grounded in the rule of law.
Her campaign says she’ll be hosting meet-and-greets and media availability in every major media market leading up to election day.
One of these meet & greet took place Friday morning at the Eau Claire County Republican Headquarters in Altoona.
“When I started in this race on October 1, the key thing that I told everyone was this is a race going back to the older races where the questions for judicial candidates are. Who’s the better judicial candidate, who has the better record, who do the attorneys like to appear in front of, and who’s not a politician and will not legislate from the bench. And I think the state Supreme Court, it’s not who’s on the right side or the left side. You need a court that’s neutral, because otherwise you lose your rights to people with agendas wearing black robes, and that is not appropriate here,” Judge Lazar said.
Lazar’s opposing candidate, Judge Chris Taylor, is set to make a stop in Green Bay Friday.
