Austin Walker is a Reporter who is passionate about breaking news and character-driven storytelling.

During his last stop in Charlotte, Austin covered the 2024 Presidential Election in the battleground state of North Carolina. He also covered Hurricane Helene and the devastating impacts the storm had in Western North Carolina, spending weeks boots on the ground, sharing stories and providing help to those impacted.

Before Charlotte, Austin worked as an Anchor/Reporter in Waco, TX. Austin is very passionate about mental health, and launched a monthly special called “The Open Conversation.” The special focused on breaking the stigma around mental health and connecting people to the life saving resources. He is so lucky to have won a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Best News Series.

Austin is no stranger to the Southwest. He worked in Tucson at KVOA News 4 Tucson. Austin got his start in Columbia, MO, where he graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. MIZ!

Originally from North Texas, Austin is looking forward to returning to the Grand Canyon State moving with his partner Alex, and becoming part of Arizona’s Family.

If you see him, point him in the direction of any live music, good Mexican food and say hi!
