Janis joined the WEAU newsroom in June 2020. What better time to move cross country and relocate your family?

Originally from Louisiana, Janis took the traditional broadcast journalist journey moving every few years. Most of her career was spent with Raycom Media.

In 2013, she moved to Alaska to launch a new TV station. That channel, KTVA CBS 11 News, went to air on Dec. 2, 2013 and during her 7-year tenure Janis served as assistant news director then news director. Janis was part of a team that kept Anchorage and surrounding areas informed after a 7.1 magnitude earthquake rattled the area in late 2018. The station was severely damaged but managed to start broadcasting less than 15 minutes after the first aftershocks. The station was recognized with several regional Emmy and Alaska Broadcaster Association ‘Goldie’ awards for this coverage.

Under her leadership the KTVA newsroom was honored with regional and national Edward R Murrow awards, RTDNA Kaleidoscope award and James Beard Foundation award.

Janis is excited to explore northwest Wisconsin. She lives in Altoona with her family.
