Philip joins WEAU 13 News as a sports anchor and reporter.
A native of Buffalo, New York, Philip recently graduated from Ball State University with a degree in Journalism and Telecommunications. While a student at Ball State, Philip worked for NewsLink Indiana and Waking Up With Cardinal Weather as well as interning with WISH-TV in Indianapolis.
When he is not covering area sporting events, Philip loves exploring the Chippewa Valley on his bike or in a kayak.

It was a busy night of girls’ basketball action in the Chippewa Valley. North traveled to Chippewa Falls and Rice Lake took on Memorial in Big Rivers action. In Dunn-St. Croix action Mondovi took on Colfax. Also, North girl’s wrestling fell to Holmen.

Rivalry night in Big Rivers Hockey featured Eau Claire Memorial and North and New Richmond vs Hudson. In girls hockey action, CFM took on the Central Wisconsin Storm and the ECA Stars faced off with Black River Falls. In prep basketball Chippewa Falls downed Rice Lake and North fell to Menomonie.

Eau Claire Memorial’s Parker Etzel announced that he will play college golf at South Dakota. Also, in WIAC hockey action UW-Eau Claire defeated Northland in overtime while UW-Stout fell to UW-Stevens Point 4-1. The Blugold women win 4-1.

In prep girl’s basketball action, Cadott continued their standout season vs Mondovi and Memorial took down SPASH. Friday featured plenty of prep basketball action from around the Chippewa Valley. On the boy’s side Menomonie faced Memorial, New Richmond took on Chippewa Falls, Fall Creek clashed with Bloomer, and Cadott squared off with Regis. In girl’s action New Richmond clashed with Chippewa Falls, River Falls faced North, and Somerset took on Altoona. There was also boy’s hockey and wrestling action both featuring Eau Claire North.

Prep sports is back in full swing in the new year. 2023 brings with it a battle for first atop the Dunn-St. Croix Conference standing in girl’s basketball as well as Regis vs McDonell. Fall Creek Cross Country and Track star Jenna Anders has signed her letter of intent to continue her athletic career at Winona State. At the 2022 State Track and Field Meet, Anders earned bronze medal honors in the 800 Meters, while also adding a fifth place finish in the 1600 meters. A four time State Cross Country qualifier as well, Anders’s best showing was a third place finish in 2020.
