SkyWarn13 Meteorologist Drew Williams.
Drew joined WEAU in November 2013, as the Skywarn13 weekend Meteorologist. He feels really fortunate to begin his career here in Eau Claire.
Drew received a bachelor degree in Broadcast Journalism from Texas Tech University in 2005. In 2012, he obtained a bachelor degree in Meteorology from Mississippi State University. He has been a member of the American Meteorology Society since 2010. He has storm chased in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas and has worked covering two hurricanes.
Drew’s interest in weather came at an early age, growing up in Lubbock, Texas in a region known as “Tornado Alley”. In 1992 when he was 10 years old, hurricane Andrew hit Florida. It really made a big impression on him to see a huge storm with the same name as his. That began his passion for meteorology and storm chasing. Drew started working in news in 2005 as a photojournalist at KLBK in Lubbock, Texas and most recently at KARK in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Drew enjoys spending time with his wife Kellie. They love to travel and play golf. When not working, Drew enjoys golf, riding his motorcycle, mountain biking and camping… really anything outdoors. He loves bluegrass music and has even begun learning to play the banjo. He is also a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan, pretty unique growing up in Texas!
Everyone here has been so friendly welcoming Drew to western Wisconsin. Please feel free to connect with him via email, Facebook or Twitter.
