Position Available: Parent Educator
Family Support Center has an opening for a full-time Parent Educator position in Chippewa County. This position is responsible for providing parent education, coaching and support to parents throughout Chippewa County through home visitation, classes, and in office one to one services. The position uses the Parents as Teachers (PAT) and Your Journey Together curriculums. Services include parenting classes at the Chippewa County Jail, L.E. Phillips Treatment Center, and other settings as opportunities arise.
Family Support Center’s mission is to empower all individuals, families and communities to live free from domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and interpersonal violence through education, prevention and intervention. Family Support Center’s Parent Services Program strives to embrace and strengthen families with children by promoting growth through education, information, referral and opportunities to share experiences.
This position is 40 hours per week. Benefits include health insurance, vacation and sick leave.
Minimum degree required is a bachelor’s degree in social work, human development and family studies or other human services related field.
Other important qualifications include:
- At least two years of experience providing parent education and support in home visitation and group settings
- Experience working with a wide variety of families, including victims of domestic violence
- Experience with people in crisis, and
- Experience and skill in developing collaborative relationships with multiple agencies.
