AUGUSTA, Wis. (WEAU) -- There is only one week left until Christmas and it’s the season to bake. One of the most popular desserts is those holiday cookies. But before you turn on the oven we have a few cookie hacks that you should know.
Robert Chaffee of the Augusta Bakery joined Hello Wisconsin to share some fun ideas.
If you plan on using a spritz cookie gun, Robert recommends not adding dough by hand. He says, “You should push the dough into the tube of a spritz cookie gun. This compacts the dough so it comes out evenly. When you load them by hand like most do, it has air in it so the pressing is inconsistent.”
He also explained how to roll out cookies. Robert says, “I use parchment instead of flour or powder sugar like grandma used to. This helps with the re-rolling and does not change the consistency of the dough to make it tough. I also use a yardstick cut in half and use it as a guide for rolling the dough. It gives the rolled dough a consistent thickness and all the cookies are even.”
