Mondovi set to host their first Oktoberfest

MONDOVI, Wis. (WEAU) -- October in Mondovi will look a little different this year.

“We can’t wait for everyone to come and join us,” said co-owner of The Locker Room, Wendy Buchholz.

Buchholz’s store along with other Mondovi businesses have been hard at work.

Brady Weiss, Mayor of Mondovi, said “We’ll have downtown blocked off, live music all day and kids games.”

The city is set to host their first Oktoberfest.

Susan Deetz, one of the event organizers, said “The response has been overwhelming. Not only here from Mondovi, but some surrounding areas as well.”

Mondovi is showing western Wisconsin that you don’t need a massive population to host an Oktoberfest. You only need dedicated event organizers.

“People coming to town and people in German attire and listening to German music,” Deetz added.

So, how did this idea come up?

Buchholz answered, “We started the Shamrock Shuffle in the spring and we thought, why not have one in the fall?”

Organizers have loaded the event with dozens of activities for the whole family. The party starts on October 13th. There is no cost of admission.
