NOON INTERVIEW: Honeybees and Beekeeping Workshop

The Dunn County Beekeepers Association is holding its 10th Annual Introduction to Honeybees and Beekeeping Workshop February 4.

This workshop provides attendees with basic information on

- why we need honeybees,

- the social makeup of the honeybees in a hive,

- what equipment is needed to raise honeybees,

- the minimal cost of getting started,

- the ideal location for a hive, and

- what to expect in your first year of raising honeybees.

There are hands-on activities so participants will get a better sense of the time and skills needed to establish a hive and then take care of the honeybees.

The workshop is at the Menomonie Alliance Church located at 502 21st St. North.

Check in begins at 8:00; Workshop starts at 8:30 and ends about 4:15.

The cost, which includes lunch, is $48 per person with additional $8 for additional family members. There is a reduced cost of $25 for youth members of 4-H, FFA, and Scouts.

Registration, which includes lunch, is required by Saturday January 28th. The registration form can be downloaded from the club web site or by calling our club Treasurer, Mary Buschmann at 715-265-9284. There are only 50 registrations taken so please register early.
