WAGNER TAILS: First anniversary

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Each week throughout the last year, WEAU's Danielle Wagner partnered with local animal rescues and shelters to help spread the word on adoptable pets.

One of the reasons Wagner Tails came to be is because Danielle knows first-hand the joy rescue pets can bring to our lives.
All four of her dogs are rescue.

Each week, Wagner Tails features at least two pets from local rescues and shelters.

So far, there are partnerships with eight local groups.

Since first airing October 11, 2018 -- Wagner Tails has featured more than 140 adoptable pets.

Wagner Tails does not adopt out pets. Wagner Tails/WEAU simply partner with area animal rescues and shelters with adoption policies already in place to help bring attention to some of the adoptable pets in our area.

Featured pets include kittens, puppies, dogs, cats, cats who like to dress up, rabbits and and even a married bunny couple.

Here is just one email update from the Coulee Region Humane Society in Onalaska:
"I did have to tell you that Tigger was adopted today because of Wagner Tails! They said they saw Tigger on the segment in Eau Claire and drove all the way here today to adopt her! The family is wonderful and are happy to take on an older cat. I think tigger would've sat here waiting for a home for quite some time if it hadn't been for Wagner Tails."

But Wagner Tails is just one small part of helping to find pets homes.

The volunteers and the staff at rescues and shelters work hard every day to take care of animals in need and to help find them homes.

Danielle is grateful they're willing to take a little extra time out of their busy days to send me the pet videos and bios.

Wagner Tails wouldn't happen without their willingness and support.

In the second year, the goal is to grow the Wagner Tails pet segment and keep spreading the word on adoptable pets near you.

Stay tuned to see more adoptable pets from more animal shelters in 2020!

You can watch the segment each Thursday during Hello Wisconsin and WEAU 13 News at 4 p.m.

Let's continue creating happy tails together!
