The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says two elk were shot in Rusk County during the nine day deer gun season.

Chief Warden Todd Schaller says a novice female hunter self-reported unintentionally shooting two elk in Rusk County.

The DNR says they are working with the hunter so the elk meat can be salvaged locally.
