CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) -- January is National Skating month, and one local organization spent it collecting for a good cause

Members of the Chippewa Figure Skating Club performed Monday. It’s all a part of Skate for a Cause. It happened at the Chippewa Area Ice Arena.

It was a fundraiser for one of their members, who was diagnosed with cancer three months ago.

After the show members also held free skating lesions.

"We decided to have this event so we could show off the figure skating skills, so if anyone wants to come and skate and they can see what they are going to get into as they get older,” said Organizer Alena Hasbrouck.
