66-year-old man charged after shots fired in Eau Claire on Wednesday
A 66-year-old man is charged in an investigation into shots fired in Eau Claire.
Duane Rene is charged in Eau Claire County Court with first degree recklessly endangering safety, possession of a firearm by a felon, false imprisonment, four counts of felony bail jumping, misdemeanor battery and disorderly conduct.
The criminal complaint says one woman was shot at by Rene during domestic abuse incident in the 2000 block of Crescent Avenue. There were previous incidents of abuse earlier in the week where the victim was struck with a rifle.
The victim tried to leave Rene and he is accused of shooting at her. One shot was fired but officials found a hunting rifle and later found two other guns.
Rene denied ever injuring the victim saying they "often has bruises and scrapes from running through the woods".
Eau Claire Police spent hours at the scene of the incident on the city's west side Wednesday.
Police say it happened early Wednesday morning at a home on Crescent Avenue.
Rene is being held on a $50,000 cash bond.
