EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- As the Vice President fundraises with Gov. Walker, area Democratic leaders gathered today to discuss the GOP’s health care agenda.

Lawmakers, including Rep. Dana Wachs and 91st Assembly Candidate Jodi Emerson, gathered with community members at the Eau Claire County Democrats' office voicing their concerns.

They say Walker has a long history of pushing policies to undermine health care.

Emerson says the governor is not working for the average family to make sure they have accessible health care.

“In our community, where 46 percent of the people are poor, a $500 deductible is a catastrophic problem for them and we really need to step up and remember that we need to build up the middle class in order to have a strong nation,” said Emerson.

Democrats in Brown County also held a press conference with their concerns about health care before the vice president's arrival in Green Bay.
