Bloomer Police Chief, Chippewa Co. board chair, to step down as chair after citations

BLOOMER, Wis. (WEAU) -- The Bloomer Police Chief, who is also the Chippewa County Board Chair, is stepping down from his position of county chair after being cited by the Department of Natural Resources.

In an email fellow board member Steven Gerrish called for Zwiefelhofer to step down as chair saying, “We as County Board Supervisors are expected to uphold the law and to be role models, not to think and act like we are above the law.”

Jared Zwiefelhofer, sent a letter on February 11, stating he is stepping down from the board chair position on March 12.

Zwiefelhofer was cited in Burnett County back in November for several hunting violations including deer baiting and deer hunting without a tag.

In a letter sent Monday, Zwiefelhofer said, “I have no excuses and take full responsibility for what I’ve done, and for that I am very sorry.”
