EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Whether the Eau Claire Area School District should accept an anonymous gift to upgrade one high school's outdoor sports facilities was up for discussion Monday.
As previously reported, a petition was started advocating for the school district to accept a $1.2 million gift for sports facilities at Memorial High School.
Upgrades would include resurfacing the track, putting in artificial turf, and adding a scoreboard and lights to the soccer-football field.
If the donation proposal is accepted, the district would have to match the funds, bringing the price tag up to $2.4 million.
A vote on the proposal is expected at the April 1 school board meeting.
"We're getting a lot of feedback from parents of North High School students and they're concerned about what are the equity concerns. I'd say that's been a big topic we've heard from public comment and through emails," said Abby Johnson with the ECASD.
During Monday's meeting, the school board approved another weather make-up day. For elementary schools, June 7th is the last day for students with a professional development day on June 12 for staff. For middle schools and high schools, June 11th is the last day for students with a professional development for staff on June 12.
The board also approved funding for the Spanish Dual-Immersion Program for next school year.
