Body found during water search at Bukolt Park in Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WEAU) -- The body of woman was found during an afternoon water search Saturday at Buckolt Park in Stevens Point.

The Portage County Emergency Dispatch received a report Saturday afternoon around 4:15 p.m. of a possible drowning near the boat landing at Bukolt Park in Steven’s Point.

A number of crews assisted in the search along with rescue personnel, such as the Stevens Point Police and Fire Departments, Department of Natural Resources, Portage County Sheriff’s Department and Dive Point scuba of Steven’s Point.

Police say after searching for about 2 hours and 12 minutes, the body of a female was found and recovered. The woman is believed to be in her 30’s and was visiting from outside the area. The victim’s name is being withheld until the family is notified. No foul play is suspected but the investigation is ongoing.
