Chicken coop fire kills around 40 birds

SPARTA, Wis. (WEAU) -- Friday morning the Sparta Area Fire District says a chicken coop fire killed thirty to forty birds.

The department responded to a call around 11am in the Town of Little Falls.

The Fire Chief Mike Arnold says the driveway wasn't plowed which made it more difficult to access the fire.

Once the fire was extinguished the Town of Little Falls patrolman plowed the driveway so crews could get out. There were no injuries reported

The department is asking home owners to keep their driveways plowed to allow emergency vehicles access to their property.
