A children’s choir spread the message of hope to a group of local seniors.

The Matsiko World Orphan Choir performed Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Communities – Willowbrook Assisted Living in Eau Claire. Matsiko is a Ugandan word for "hope".

Zach Windham, the choir’s tour director, said the word embodies both the children and the songs they sing. The choir features children from Peru, India, Liberia, and Nepal.

“The message we want to convey is a message of hope – that even if you're in a desperate situation, like some of these kids are in, that they can overcome and achieve just with the little bit of support,” Windham said to WEAU 13 News on Tuesday “That's the message we try to convey not only here, but their countries as well.”

Proceeds generated by the choir tour and merchandise sales go directly to support International Children’s Network's worldwide programs.
