Chili Cook-off & Mac & Cheese Challenge raises funds for youth

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – Community members enjoyed chili and cheese this afternoon while supporting a great cause.

Sacred Heart-St. Patrick Parish Center in Eau Claire held its fifth annual Chili Cook-Off Sunday afternoon. This year’s event featured a Mac and Cheese Challenge, a new addition to the annual cook-off.
Competitors entered their best dishes to be voted on by attendees.

All-you-can-eat meal tickets were sold for the taste-testers looking to enjoy more than a sample. Proceeds from the event will benefit the youth ministry. "It’s going to benefit our Steubenville trip. It’s a catholic youth conference that really transforms lives all around the U.S. It’s really an amazing opportunity," said Anne Mcmenomy, a participant of the event.

Bruce Henriksen took home the prize for best chili, while Sharon Scheel received the most votes for her mac and cheese. Both winners were awarded a $50 prize.

Organizers say $600 was raised towards various trips planned for the youth ministry this summer.
