CHIPPEWA COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU)-- A Rusk County man is charged after investigators say he illegally shot at least three bears.

Troy Madlon, of Sheldon, was charged Monday in Chippewa County court with killing bear without a license and hunting bear without a valid license.

According to a complaint, Madlon was illegally using a tribe members bear tags since 2013. The complaint goes on to say Madlon killed the bears because they were "mean" and "beating up his dogs."

A DNR Conservation Warden found three black bear skulls on his property back in April.
