Chippewa County polling place broken into overnight, suspect in custody

A suspect is in custody after a polling place in Chippewa County was vandalized.
The Chippewa County Sheriff's Office says the Edson Town Hall was broken into overnight. The site is being used as a polling place on Election Day.
Deputies responded to this call before polls opened around 6:30 a.m.
They say a juvenile male tried to get in through the doors, broke a window, and tried to start a fire inside.
Sheriff Jim Kowalzcyk says this appears to only be an act of vandalism, as nothing inside was taken.
Deputies and the department's K-9 were able to track down the suspect and he was arrested shortly after.
Town Chairman, Donald Schesel, says they closed polls down temporarily while the deputies responded, but were able to open back up again around 8:30 am.
Deputies have not released the suspect's name yet because they say he is a juvenile and have not said if the vandalism was motivated by today's election.
