Chippewa Falls considers lowering speed limit near new park

CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) Community leaders say speeding is a safety hazard near a new Chippewa Falls park.

The city council is considering lowering speed limits on the city's East Hill near the intersection of Unity Road and Dutchman Drive.

The roads next to the park would be lowered from 25mph to 15mph.

Mayor Greg Hoffman says he's received a number of complaints from the people living near the park as well as parents.

Hoffman said, “It's just frustrating to have the thought of individuals speeding that would deter the kids from the playground so I think it's very important that we have this passed. I think it's very important that we get this implemented.”

The council is set to vote on the resolution at its March 20 meeting.

If passed new signs would likely be put in place in early April.
