A local high school organization is helping grant a special wish for a fellow student and her family.

Just last month, the Chippewa Falls High School DECA organization teamed up with the Make-A-Wish Foundation for its annual "Wish Week."

The week includes a series of fundraisers to help grant a wish for a child with a critical illness.

For the first time, the DECA chapter got to sponsor a fellow student, 14-year-old Meghan Griffith, who has congenital anomalies. She has decided to set sail on a Caribbean cruise with her family.

This afternoon, students presented a check to Meghan's family during a school celebration.

“Year after year it's really important to see who this benefits and what great things can come out of our school alone,” says Madelyn Zenner, DECA President at Chi-Hi.

And while the cruise is just over a week away, what her family looks forward to most is joining the Cardinal community at Chi-Hi.

“That they see her as a peer and enjoy and cheer her on, and for them to do this is pretty overwhelming,” says Heather Griffith, Meghan’s mom.
