Det. Jason Weiland honored in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON (Gray DC) -- Police departments from across the country, and the world, honored local fallen officers in Washington on Tuesday.

Among those honored, Everest Metro Police Department Detective Jason Weiland.

Weiland was killed last March in a mass shooting in the Wausau area.

Detective Daniel Goff worked alongside Weiland for years and was there the day he lost his life.

Goff said Weiland's legacy will continue through two simple words that Weiland's daughter said during her father's funeral.

Goff said, “Be amazing. Be amazing to each other, do something amazing, do something positive. And that’s what this is all about, that’s the message.”
