EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU)-- Locals are banding together to help people affected by Hurricane Irma.

As part of a donation drive organized by a local woman, donations are being collected for both humans and animals impacted by the hurricane in Florida.

Vienna Wright, the organizer of the donation drive, says she is working with the Cajun Navy, a volunteer group assisting with relief efforts in Naples, Florida and the Florida Keys.

Wright says crews are in need of basic pet supplies, kennels, hygiene products and more. The donations are being collected Sunday from 4 pm-6 pm outside of the Tropic Waters store on Hamilton Avenue in Eau Claire.

The donations will head to Florida from the Chippewa Valley by the middle of next week.
