DULUTH, Minn. — (KARE) A Duluth police officer has suffered a gunshot injury, after responding to a report of domestic assault with a weapon.
Police say the suspect began firing at officers late Sunday night, hitting one officer and killing his K-9 partner, Haas.
An officer returned fire, but once police gained access to the room where the suspect was located, police found the gunman dead. At this point, it is not clear whether the man was killed by a shot by the officer or from his own weapon. The injured officer has been treated and released from the hospital.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension will be conducting this investigation, and are expected to give an update on Monday.
