EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- A new series at a local art gallery kicked off Wednesday night, and it's featuring female writers from the Chippewa Valley.

The owners of 200 Main Gallery launched Women Writers on Wednesdays during an event at the gallery on Main Street in Eau Claire.

The first author to participate was Cathy Sultan from Eau Claire.
Sultan discussed her latest novel, Damascus Street, a story set in a Lebanon.

She says she likes engaging with readers and answering questions about her experiences in the Middle East.

"I've spoken about how my experiences in the middle east have helped me craft my writing. It's an opportunity for me to answer questions that normally don't get answered," said author Cathy Sultan.

Owners of the gallery hope to host Women Writers on Wednesdays at least once a month.
