EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Today hundreds of community members attended the inaugural Cheese Curd Cook Off .
The event was held at Wagner's Lanes in Eau Claire where a variety of curds were sampled. After friendly food bantering over whose curds are better, event coordinator, Paul Wilkes got the idea to have a cook-off.
Competitors are from local restaurants and food truck owners in the Chippewa Valley, all vying for the best cheese curd chef.
"There will be some original, there will be some with different seasonings on top of them. So you’ll have like a sriracha dusted one, lemon pepper parmesan one, all sorts of different types," Paul Wilkes, event coordinator.
WEAU's very own Monica Ott was a part of the fun, stepping in to judge the cook off. Tonight's winner will take home a Golden Fryer Trophy and bragging rights of course. If you missed this year's event, another cheese curd cook off is in the works for next year.
