Entrepreneur announces run for Eau Claire City council

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. -- (WEAU) Laura Benjamin, an entrepreneur in Eau Claire has announced she is running for city council.

In a press release, Benjamin says she is a long time Eau Claire resident who is raising her family here. She moved from Minneapolis to Eau Claire in 1999 for college, attending and graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Benjamin says she has been a key contributor to the redevelopment of downtown Eau Claire as a member and marketer of the Pro-Confluence Committee: Voices for Growth. She says she founded a successful business in Eau Claire in 2010, and as an entrepreneur she is in a unique position to earn a leadership role within the State of Wisconsin, which ranks last in the nation for new business start-ups, as an innovator and promoter of new business ventures.

Benjamin is planning to launch her campaign event at the Plus in downtown Eau Claire on January 18th. The event is scheduled to start at 5:30 pm. The public is encouraged to attend.
